Claressa Shields (15-0-0) is set to fight Danielle Perkins (5-0-0) on February 2 in a battle of undefeated pugilists.

The fight is set to take place at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan, United States. The IBF, WBC, WBF, and WBO world heavyweight titles will be on the line for the showdown.

Shields last fought Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse in July 2024 and earned a TKO win. She is now set to take on Perkins in a clash where someone might lose their perfect record.

Perkins has sounded a warning to Shield ahead of the fight as she said in a press-conference:

Her coming up to heavyweight is the best thing that’s happened to me in my entire life. No one, at any point, ever cared about this division until Claressa came up. … I have five fights not because of a lack of attempting to get fights. No one ever wants to step in the ring with me and it’s unfortunate because I have some skills. … I know for a fact Claressa is up for the challenge.

Claressa Shields outpointed Danielle Perkins to become the first female undisputed heavyweight champion in history. Shields dropped Perkins during the contest and earned a unanimous decision.

The judges scored the bout 97-92, 99-90, and 100-89. While Perkins was the heavier fighter, Shields showed his power, dropping her opponent with a thunderous right hand.

She also became the first ever boxer, male or female, to become the undisputed champion across three different weight classes. Shields has done so in light middleweight, middleweight, and heavyweight

In front of her home crowd in Flint, Michigan, Shields improved his perfect professional record to 16-0-0. Speaking after the fight, GWOAT said:

I actually think I’m going to have to have surgery on my left arm. I tore my labrum last week, so the fight almost didn’t happen. I didn’t want to let Flint down, but I really couldn’t use my jab the way that I wanted to. I iced it, I did therapy and now I think I’m going to have a shoulder surgery.

Shields, who won the Olympic gold medals in 2012 and 2016, kept adding to her ever growing legacy with the win against Perkins. She highlighted how she was able to manage the threat of the bigger opponent, saying:

Danielle was strong, she was definitely a problem but my experience and my skills got me over it. I’ve been in plenty of street fights with bigger people and I had to use some of my skills in that today, too. So, when I dropped her in the last round, it’s because she got greedy.

Fresh off of her heavyweight title win over Danielle Perkins, Claressa Shields is setting her sights on a rematch of her 2022 fight with Savannah Marshall — but this one she wants to stage at heavyweight according to her promoter Dmitry Sailta. Shields took a unanimous decision win over Marshall in their first meeting at the middleweight division.

Salita says he’s formally reached out to Marshall’s team about their interest and hopes to bring the fight to fruition, adding that Shields additional power at heavyweight makes her an even bigger threat to score a knockout.

“We’ve had general discussions over the past several months and have expressed our interest in making the rematch happen,” Dmitry Salita, Shields’ promoter, told Sky Sports. “I believe she will stop Savannah with the power she possesses at heavyweight.”

If this proposed rematch is to gain any traction Salita says the fight would need to be either staged in the US or in a neutral location and not in England where they fought the first time. Shields is as accomplished as they come at this point and would appear to be angling for an opponent that will bring as much money and notoriety as possible, with Marshall being a significant name in women’s boxing.

Undefeated Claressa Shields will return to the ring this weekend to face Danielle Perkins in a women’s undisputed heavyweight title fight, which will be broadcast via Salita Promotions PPV.

This same purse will be her pay for this fight against Perkins

Before that fight, her maximum earnings were estimated at $350,000 for her fights against opponents such as Savannah Marshall and Ema Kozin. However, on this occasion her purse will not include an additional bonus from PPV sales, although she will receive income from sponsorships and television revenue.

Claressa Shields vs Danielle Perkins boxing fight: Shields wins heavyweight women's title

Shields dropped Danielle Perkins with less than 20 seconds left in the 10th and final round of the championship bout to put an exclamation point on a dominant win by unanimous decision (100-89, 97-92, 99-90). In front of a raucous, supportive crowd at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, her hometown, on Sunday night, Shields (16-0, 3 KOs) clinched an undisputed title to become first boxer to win undisputed titles at three different weight classes. Perkins (5-1, 2 KOs) fought until the end but ended the fight on the mat

Shields came out on the front foot with early pressure. Using her speed advantage, Shields closed the gap between her and the bigger Perkins to consistently get in range to throw bunches of right hooks and overhands, accompanied with a near-constant left jab.

Perkins withstood the assault and seemingly found more energy in the final three rounds and started landing powerful jabs and uppercuts on Shields, but eventually the aggression came back to bite. Perkins was searching for a late finish, but left herself open to a big right hook that dropped her to end the fight in the final seconds.

Shields-Perkins headlined a night of nine fights in the “Vehicle City”, including four women’s fights. Brandon Moore won the co-main event over Skylar Lacy via disqualification for the vacant USBA men’s heavyweight title. Three other boxers from Michigan Leon Lawson III, Joseph Hicks and Joshua James Pagan — also won their fights with Hicks and Lawson winning by technical knockout.

Shields becomes the first American heavyweight, male or female, to win an undisputed championship since Riddick Bowe in 1992. Shields also maintained her perfect 16-0 record along with adding another championship belt in a fifth weight class.

HOMETOWN HERO:Claressa Shields has history on mind as she preps to ‘beat up my friend’

claressa Shields (16-0; 3 KOs) became the undisputed women’s heavyweight champion after defeating Danielle Perkins (5-1; 0) by unanimous decision (100-89, 99-90, 97-92) in her hometown of Flint, Michigan. Although the size difference was evident, the experience of the two-time Olympic champion and the age difference (29 to 42) was more decisive.

In any case, Shields, who proclaimed herself the ‘GWOAT’ (Greatest Woman of All Time), made history by becoming the first female boxer to be crowned undisputed champion in a third weight category. Since there are four belts, in men there are three fighters who have been in two divisions: Oleksandr Usyk, Naoya Inoue and Terence Crawford. Among the girls, Katie Taylor has ruled in two weights.

From the start, it was clear that Shields was going to take advantage of her speed. She is tough and was ready to get in and out quickly. The second round was really entertaining, as Perkins realized that her opponent was extremely effective, so in the final seconds she went all out despite the risks. In the third round there was again a lot of dynamite.

Claressa continued to dominate and even attack with the jab. In the seventh, adrenaline levels rose again. Although the result did not seem to be in danger if it went to the end, the contest remained interesting because Perkins threw punches with a lot of bad temper. However, Shields shone in the ninth and in the tenth she sent her opponent to the canvas just before the end. If there is one thing about women’s 10×2, it is that the fights are very intense.

According to the champion, she fought very depleted: “I think I’m going to have to have surgery on my left arm. I tore my labrum last week, so the fight almost didn’t happen. I didn’t want to disappoint my city, but I really couldn’t use my jab the way I wanted to,” she said.
